Raymond James welcomes Illinois advisor team managing $385 million in assets
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James recently welcomed a team of five financial advisors to Raymond James Financial Services (RJFS) – the firm’s independent advisor channel – according to David Sisemore, Midwest division director for RJFS.
The team, comprised of advisors J. Steven Bush, Shane Swift, James Schmertmann, Brett Johnson and Eric VanWinkle, arrives from LPL Financial where they managed $385 million in client assets. Operating as SBS Financial in Moline, Illinois, they provide guidance to clients seeking comprehensive financial planning, investment management and retirement planning. They are joined by client services manager Sarah Johanson, client services assistant Clarissa Conduff and client services associate Cameron Drury.

Swift, co-founder of SBS Financial, has served in the financial services industry for nearly three decades and holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University. His experience is backed by the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, Certified Investment Management Analyst®, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ and Accredited Wealth Management Advisor® professional designations.
Bush has more than 25 years of industry experience and specializes in using insurance strategies for estate planning, business continuity and income preservation. He began his advisory career at AXA/Equitable and co-founded what is now SBS Financial in 2008.
Schmertmann holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst®, Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist™ professional designations. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa and brings over two decades of financial services industry experience to the team.
Johnson joined SBS Financial in 2008 and advanced from operations into an advisory role, becoming SBS Financial’s first junior partner in 2021. She has nearly 20 years of industry experience and holds the Chartered Financial Consultant® professional designation.
VanWinkle transitioned into financial services in 2019 and has experience in management, marketing and sales developed over a 20-year career in broadcast television. His expertise is supported by the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist™ and Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor® professional designations, along with a Certificate of Graduate Study in Financial Planning from Northern Illinois University.
